Olive Wood & Gemstones

The olive has been revered in religion and myth
throughout recorded time as a potent symbol of life and renewal,
making it the perfect partner for our gemstones,
themselves traditionally believed to possess their own therapeutic powers
through their channeling of the Earth’s energies;
a tradition carried on to the present day by many therapists and healers.

Brought together in one piece of jewellery,
they make each necklace not only a beautiful adornment,
but also a powerful talisman for the believing wearer.

Olive Wood

Each necklace is individually hand-made by our own craftsman
in his workshopin a valley not far from the curative thermal baths
of Eftalou, near Molivos, the ancient city of Mithymna,
where for centuries poets and writers have settled
in search of peace and inspiration.
He starts with olive wood  cut from local trees,
and personally selected by him for its grain and texture.
Cut into delicate slices, the wood is thoroughly seasoned, finished to
a satin smoothness, sealed and polished before receiving its stone.

Gemstones

Each stone is carefully selected and positioned to complement its mount.
Some of the stones we use are shown here:

And finally the finished pendant is hung
on a fine black leather cord,
either fixed length fastened with a clasp,
or fully adjustable using simple sliders:-
